Lets Scramble!
As you may know, Lady T is a restored ex-RAF Land Rover. During her service she was stationed in the Middle East, what she was doing whilst there is rather elusive, although new information has come to light that makes us suspect that she was in a fact a special envoy vehicle. This would explain why her B-Card is so vague!
As her restoration neared completion, and realising that there are not many ex-RAF Land Rovers out there, Lady Ts owners realised that they would love her to be used to help raise awareness and funds for any charities related to the Royal Air Forces and its personnel. Earlier in the year, after seeing Lady T at the NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham, we were approached by Bicester Motion if we would join their annual Scramble. What is a Scramble you might ask? Well, we asked that exact question too!
Bicester Scramble is an event that takes place 3 times a year at the former RAF Bicester Base, which brings car enthusiasts together to look at old vehicles, new vehicles and just-launched vehicles! This year as part of the 80th VE Day Celebrations and to celebrate 60 years since Queen Elizabeth II visited the former airbase, Bicester Motion and Bicester Scramble, in partnership with Aston Martin Bristol, had a special display in the main Hanger 113 to raise money for The Royal Air Force Association.
The Scramble gathered the largest collection of Aston Martins from the Aston Martin Wing Series, along with a spitfire plane and a collection of special vehicles that would have been on the base during Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to tell the story of RAF Bicester, The Wing Series and The RAF Association. This is where Lady T comes in, as she was asked to join this prestigious line up too!
It was an absolute privilege to be amongst some of the most beautiful cars in the world, all whilst helping to raise money and awareness for the RAF Association. Thank you Bicester Motion, Bicester Scramble, Aston Martin Bristol and The Royal Air Forces Association for having Lady T join you all on such a gloriously sunny and fun day.
